Sorting out the JIB warehouse last week we found an extra 14 copies of our critically acclaimed debut LP release, The Ray Russell Quartet’s Spontaneous Event, that Ray had signed. The reason they had remained in the warehouse was due to the fact that they all had minor warps, but we’ve now checked them, and they all play fine. Having discussed it with Ray, we’ve decided to offer these final 14 copies with all of the proceeds going to Ray and his wife Sally’s chosen charity - www.warpaws.org - an organisation dedicated to alleviating pain and suffering of animals in hostile environments and areas of civil conflict. We think this is a very worthy cause. These are the ONLY SIGNED COPIES of the album, and there is no other stock beyond this last 14. Due to the fact that they are slight defects, we will not be accepting returns on these copies so be sure you want one before purchasing.

about

Live is Live!
"You are what you play"

'The experience of live broadcast where you can't try anything before you start is an experience like no other.

Falling in a dream is the nearest analogy.

In these days live was live. Every gig an unrepeatable event. Ron Fry the pianist on some of these tracks passed away far too early. He was ahead of his time in progressive music. This era was a great time for progressive music in the UK. I'm so pleased it has found its way to be released.

A TRUE SPONTANEOUS EVENT.

Thanks to everyone who made this possible'.

Ray Russell 2020 / February / 28th

An incredible, never-before-released series of live sessions from The Ray Russell Quartet, recorded in London between 1967 and 1969. Featuring one of the earliest known recordings of legendary bassist Dave Holland.

This is an absolutely unmissable set for fans of Ray, British progressive jazz, and jazz in general.
