Der Ohlsen "a sound palette which sits in a place between amplified Fusion, grand big band sound, yet also sweaty improvisational club atmosphere, without ever clearly committing to one of these aspects for long. This music, which is presented in an easily digestable average song length of seven minutes, flows between styles very subtly without you even actively noticing it during casual listening."

John Ferguson I make no apologies for the fact that I tend to prefer contemporary jazz being produced by some fantastic young musicians we currently have on 'the scene' at the mo (eg Alfa Mist, Rob Luft, Alice Zawadzki, Emma Rawicz & many more), but releases like this serve as a fabulous reminder of the superb legacy some of these great artists have left us over the last 50+years or so. This is simply great music - full stop!

about

Never-before-released early 1980s sessions by a band of top British players and composers which never released an album, led by drummer Trevor Tomkins. This is, in effect, the late Trevor Tomkins debut album release as leader, as well as his memorial. We were working on this with Trevor when he died last last year and it's now released with the help and support of his family.
